The Conflict Management Course is a core component of the Africa CDC Applied Epidemiology Scholars (AES) Program. It equips fellows with the knowledge and practical skills needed to recognize, analyze, and resolve conflict in multicultural, cross-border, and high-pressure public health environments.
Through interactive modules, case studies, and a field-based practicum, participants will learn to:
-
Identify early signs, types, and root causes of conflict.
-
Understand the stages of conflict, including escalation and de-escalation processes.
-
Apply appropriate conflict management techniques such as negotiation, mediation, and collaborative problem-solving.
-
Demonstrate context-sensitive strategies to address real-world conflict in public health institutions.
-
Reflect on lessons learned to strengthen teamwork, leadership, and institutional resilience.
Designed as a self-paced e-learning course, the program combines theory with applied practice to ensure fellows not only build personal competence but also contribute to stronger, more collaborative public health systems across Africa.
